Jason and Ian Jr discuss the Inuit games, and Ian Jr shares his memories and the pins he collected. He also talks about his dreams of teaching the community these games that are so important to him when he was younger.
Jason and Ian Jr go over all of the equipment, checking all the air tanks are full, each piece of equipment is in the right place. Making sure everything is ready for their next call.
Jason and Ian talk about all parts of being firefighters, how the work changes with the seasons, how they would react to different scenarios and how important teaching children fire prevention is.
Robin Suwaksiork, Morcus Aniksak and Jason take the hoses out, demonstrating how to coil and dry them and how to load the truck with them so they are ready to use. They discuss how to work as a partnership in rescue situations, how important their gear and communication are to the firefighters safety.
Starting with a snack, all the firefighters gather together before evening practice. We spend time driving around with Luke (Please check this is the right name), collecting radios from other members of the fire fighting team who are on break.
The team practices with getting people safely onto stretchers, learning to communicate well in teams of two and look after the people around them. Each member of the team talks about how long they have been a firefighter and what they most enjoy about it.
