Arsaniq And Monica

Monica prepares to travel to Montreal, packing her clothing, and leaving for her first flight to Iqaluit and then on to Ottawa. It will be Monica’s first time in Montreal.

Monica arrives in Montreal and goes over to visit Arsaniq who has an apprentice and friend Niivi there as well. They share food, vegetables, fruit and country food, planning what tattoos to do first.

Arsaniq and Niivi work on the stencils for Monica’s leg tattoos before beginning to tattoo. Monica lays on the couch, with Niivi sitting close and watching as Arsaniq tattoos triangle shapes on Monicas’s leg.

Arsaniq tattoos Monica’s other leg with the same patterns. Monica tells stories about hunting caribou and seals with her family to help distract from the pain.

Continuing the tattoos down Monica’s arm that Arsaniq started on her trip to Igloolik she finishes all the way at Monica’s wrist.

Monica and Arsaniq plan Monica’s facial tattoo placement carefully, changing the size and placement many times before settling on the perfect ones. Monica lays on the couch while Arsaniq works on her tattoos. They finish the day sketching and then tattooing Mark’s facial tattoos.
